The Sun, 2018
24 hr projection
Edited for the exhibition
The video presents the sun’s disc in two shots – at sunrise and sunset simultaneously as an image from extremely different parts of the Globe. Originally it was shown on the day of Autumn equinox, September 23, 2018, as a two-channel film at the Galeria Arsenal in Bialystock, Poland. It was a compilation of live stream broadcasts, recorded during the show, and films from appropriate places in all time zones on Earth. Implementation of the project was possible thanks to the commitment, joint work and synchronization of activities of several hundred people: travelers, vloggers, friends of the artists, filmmakers and cultural art institutions. The screening was accompanied by Rafał Ryterski sound composition created on an ongoing basis by the software collecting information from the downloaded image and atmospheric information where the image was recorded.
